Kids/Teens Weight Classes: Gi & NoGi

There are no set weight classes for kids and teens.

We use a block-bracketing system for all kids and teen competitors.

This means that we group them together by closest age, weight and skill level the day of the tournament.

The criteria for we use is no more than 2 years apart and no more than a 10 lb difference between the lightest child in the bracket and the heaviest child in the bracket. Please note: this is the maximum criteria we use. Most times it's a smaller difference.

This system of bracketing works very well for kids because it prevents weight cutting and allows for more freedom in pairing kids up.

Weight Classes for Gi & NoGi divisions are the same.

Competitors do NOT have to weigh-in with the gi.

Note #1: If you do not make weight we bump you up to the next weight class. You do not have to worry about being disqualified for not making weight. We won't disqualify you for this. We just bump you up a weight.

Note #2: If you signed up for the wrong weight class; you do not have to call or email to have it changed. We can do this simply and easily for you, after you weigh-in, at the tournament.

White & Blue Adult (16-29 yrs) Divisions: For all male competitors ages 16-29 yrs old we offer white and blue belt divisions.

White & Blue Executive (30-39 yrs) Divisions: For all male competitors ages 30-39 years of age and older we offer white and blue belt divisions. In the case where there is not enough to form an executive division we will ask you if you want to fight in the adult age category or if you want to fight up a weight class in the executive divisions.

White & Blue Master (40+ yrs) Divisions: For all male competitors ages 40+ yrs. In the case where there is not enough to form a Masters division we will ask you if you want to fight to the executive age cateorgy, or if you want to fight up a weight class in the masters division.

White & Blue Belts: It is required that you register for your correct age group. If you are 30 years of age or older you must register for the executive division. If you are 16-29 years old you must register for the Adult division. With that said, the only time we will combine adult and executive age divisions together is if their is not enough competitors in your executive or adult weight class. If this is the case the 2 age groups will be combined.

Purple Adult (18-29 yrs) & Executive (30+ yrs): Purple belts 18-29 yrs will have their own division. Purple belts over 30 yrs will also have their own division. The only time we will combine these age categories is if their is not enough purple belts in a particular age/weight category to make a bracket.

Brown/Black Adult & Executive (18+ yrs) belts: Brown & black belts 18 years are combined into one division: Brown/Black. We will not split the division by adult and executive because their are not enough competitors to do this. All adult ages 18 yrs and older will go together in a brown/black belt division.
